RUNNERS are being invited to get their entries in for the 2020 Admiral Swansea Bay 10k.
Entry applications open today and there are early bird entry prices until the end of February.
The multi-award winning event – featuring some of the finest scenery in athletics – has once again been nominated as the UK’s Best 10k in the 2020 Running Awards.
Swansea Council is behind the event which is being sponsored by Admiral for the 15th consecutive year. As well as the 10k, there are also 1k and 3k junior fun runs, along with a 10k wheelchair race.
Around 5000 people are expected to take part on Sunday, September 20, which will mark the 40th Swansea Bay 10k. The race has gone from strength to strength since its inception in 1981 and the council is making plans to celebrate the special anniversary.
Robert Francis-Davies, the Council’s cabinet member for Investment, Regeneration and Tourism, said: “The Admiral Swansea Bay 10k is wonderful for elite athletes, charity fundraisers and those looking to tackle their personal bests or conquer fitness goals.
“Set against the terrific Swansea Bay on a flat course, the event is a landmark in the running calendar and attracts participants from all over the UK. It’s an exceptionally popular feature of Swansea’s annual events calendar.
“We’d encourage anyone interested to enter as soon as possible to avoid disappointment because once the race places have gone they’ve gone.
“The event continues to receive positive feedback each year from past participants who are particularly complementary about the quality of the event organisation and the support they receive from hundreds lining the route.”
Early bird prices are available until February 29. Visit swanseabay10k.com to take advantage of the offer. Standard fees will apply from March 1.
